Search, Find and Verify The Taxpayer Details using GST No. from Government of India Website

Hello, I welcome you all to this fourth article of Sewa Diary. This article is especially beneficial for small businessmen, bookkeepers and accountants of India.

Because this article is one of the series labelled as "Business Basics" that's why, it is going to be a short and very quick guide on searching a registered taxpayer of GST.

So let's see how you can search any Indian GST Taxpayer and check the GST Returns filed by it, using its GST number on Government of India (GOI's) official website.

Steps 1 to 4 - Find GST Taxpayers using GST No.

1. First of all, click on the given button and go to GST website here

2. After clicking on the above button, a new page will be opened. Under Search Taxpayer section, Enter GSTIN/UIN of the taxpayer, where  GSTIN refers to; Goods and Services Tax Identification Number and UIN refers to; Unique Identification Number.

3. After filling the GST number, an image will appear below. Look at the image shown and type the same letters/characters in the second option. Refer to Figure 1 for more detail.

4. After this, click the SEARCH button shown at the end. All the information about GST taxpayer such as:
→ Legal Name of Business (i.e. Snapdeal Private Limited)
→ Status of GST Number (i.e. Active or Cancelled)
→ Jurisdictional detail (i.e. State Jurisdiction)
→ Date of Registeration (i.e. Registered on 01/07/2017)
→ Taxpayer type (i.e. Regular or composition dealer)
→ Constitution of Business (i.e. partnership/company/proprietorship/banking company etc.) will be displayed on the screen.

Apart from this, If you want to check the authenticity of taxpayer, you can check its previously filed GST returns by clicking on the button 'SHOW FILING TABLE' as shown below on the same page.
