What is Digital Job Profile and How to Create a Best online Job Profile for Free >

Hello, and welcome to this useful article in the series of finding a good job for nurturing your career.

This article is going to be very useful specially for new-comers, recently graduated students and for those who are looking for a job in online world.

Basically, I got the idea of writing this article when my TCS Course trainer 'Sir Praveen K.Vyas' gave us a topic for doing a routine group discussion. This is to express my heartfelt feelings for my trainer, who gave this topic to us and to improve our overall verbal communication skills.

On the day of group discussion, I was prepared and much exited to join our online ZOOM meeting but unfortunately …I couldn't join the discussion due to some networking issue in my area.

But later on...I decided to write an article on the same topic so that not only me but everyone who are in my connection could get the benefit of creating a digital profile. So, let's begin it without taking much more of your time.

What is Digital Job Profile?

When a job seeker creates a profile online using different job portals, and he/she gets a link/reference of registered profile is called a Digital Job Profile. Be noted that this profile is created to catch the attention of employer and not express the thoughts. So, provide only that details which are asked or required for the employer and do not explain any other extra things like what you know about, this & that etc.

Due to Covid-19 pandemic outbreak in India, there has been a greater change seen in the market trends and a change in employment opportunities also.

During lockdown, many business units were adversely affected due to the global slowdown of economic activities. Less number of units sold forced the companies to produce less number of units. And to survive it was become essential for businesses to cut down the fixed expenses as well as variable expenses (like salary, electricity bills, allowances and rent etc.)

Finally, to minimize the unavoidable expenditures some businesses had also shut down their departments.

But as of now, inverse relationship of recovery rate can be seen between COVID-19 and Economic Activities. As the vaccine of COVID-19 is ready, now economic activities of the nation are trying to set back in the prosperous position.

With the good market recovery rate- the chances of increasing employment are also high. But this time the mode of providing jobs and taking interviews is going to change completely.

Before Covid-19, usually interviews were conducted offline and workings were also based in office, But the era of Covid-19 pandemic has changed the entire scenario of workplace.

Now, the employer gives preference to those employees who can do work from home because almost every business wants to cut its expenses, like rent, electricity expenses and allowances etc.

So, here i am going to provide the list of online job portals available in India, where anyone can create a basic digital job profile to be seen in the eyes of employer in online world.

Let's begin…

In my opinion there are 5 ways to create a digital job profile:

1st. Government authorised employment portals

2nd. Private Employment Portals (Third party)

3rd. Portfolio websites

4th. Freelance, Mentor & Guest posts bloggers

5th. Social Media Channels

1st. Government Authorised Employment Portals of India

These portals are regulated and operated by government of India based on its governing bodies.

Currently, there are 28 states and 8 union territories in India and each one of them has its own employment portal for the residents residing in these areas. And there is 1 another National Portal of Employment which regulates and give directions to its sub-state governed portals. So, as a job seeker firstly you must register yourself on your state’s employment portal and after getting yourself registered in the eyes of government then you should go for other options. You can check your state in the list given below and just click on the state name to open the website & register yourself.

A.     A. National Employment Portal of India by Ministry of Labour & Employment

a.       Register on National Career Services (NCS)

B.      B. State wise list of employment portals:

1.      Haryana

2.      Punjab

a.      PGRKAM

b.      Employment Department of Punjab

3.      Gujarat

4.      Uttar Pradesh

5.      Rajasthan

6.      Maharashtra

7.      West Bengal

a.      Employment Bank

b.      Labour Department

8.      Karnataka

9.      More states will be updated soon.

2nd. Private Employment Portals (Third party)

In the countries like India, you can encounter job providers almost in every street, especially in the metropolitan cities like Delhi and Gurgaon. There is no authentication or reliable source from where you can check whether any employer is genuine or fake. There is very high risk involved of scams or scandals. So beware of the Fake job providers who promise of giving jobs in corporate sectors like Amazon, Flipkart and focus on the few selected employers given below.

Based on preference from High to Low, check the following:

1.      Naukri.com (Trusted & Prestigious Platform in India*)

2.      InstaHyre.com (Startup of India)

3.      Linkedin.com (International Company to Make Job Connections)

4.      Kormo Jobs by Google (Recently launched app for android users but Secured)

5.      Monster India (International Company to Make Job Connections)

6.      Internships | Summer Internship 2021 (internshala.com)

7.      Datamatics Staffing Solutions (3rd Party Employer)

8.      Shine.com (e-middlemen for job seekers)

You can create the basic job profile using anyone of the above mentioned websites except 7th Datamatics Staffing Solutions. It is a 3rd party HR company which provides staffing solutions to the other companies, specially to the international companies. It is a trusted source of employment. I have also given my interview to the main company on behalf of Datamatics for the role of Accounts Paybles (AP) but later on I got rejection….J You can find Datamatics on Naukri.com

3rd. Portfolio websites

To showcase the set of skills and provide complete details about your journey, passion, lifestyle, achievements and the experiences, you can create your own website or a blog. This type of websites are called Portfolio websites. But do you know how to create such a website? If you know, that’s great and please do let us know in the comment section But if you’re unaware then here I am going to provide a list of websites via which you can create your basic portfolio website.

Commonly there are two-three platforms to create any website for non-developers:

1.      Wordpress.com

2.      Blogger.com

3.      Wix.com

If you want to create a basic showcase profile, then it’s free on all of these three platforms and if you want to go in a little bit advance then it will cost you around 500 per year or more.

Wordpress.com is a professional website builder which is free of cost when used with dedicated domain name at the end of URL, such as www.yogeshjhamb.wordpress.com And you want to create custom domain names like http://www.yogeshjhamb.com then you’ve to take domain name firstly. So, it will add cost in your basket around 700Rs. Per year. And further if you want to buy any theme for your website then you can also go for paid versions or otherwise basic themes are good enough to select, I think.

Blogger.com: This platform is developed by Google which is absolutely free of cost. There is no storage limitation or content limitation. But the only limitation which creates problem sometime for a writer is Website Designing and SEO. It doesn’t look that professional compared to wordpress.com or wix.com. Custom domains can also be connected with Blogger.com.

Wix.com: It is based on the principle of Pick & Drop. You just need to select the objects and drop the same on your desired place anywhere within the website. But it has content/storage limitations in its basic free plan. User need to upgrade to its paid plan after sometime if he/she wants to add some extra sort of storage in existing work.

4th. Freelance, Mentor & Guest posts bloggers

It is one of the trending job types which is very common these days. Job seekers who want to start their career by doing part time jobs, it is the best option for them to work as Freelancer, mentor or a guest post writer.

Freelancer.com and Fiverr.com are the examples of freelancing websites which provides work - where it is required.

Guest Posts means writing on someone behalf. This is a very popular means of earning in the newspaper domain where news agencies hire guest post writers for writing as freelance or in any regional languages.

5th. Social Media Channels

Twitter, Facebook, Youtube, Instagram, Telegram and WhatsApp are the types of social media channels where one can get connected and find a job suit to its requirement. But these platforms do not specifically focus on job providing because these channels are the source of information But not the source of employment. Hence, if you wanna find jobs via these channels, you can join the different job Groups so that you can get the regular updates. But i prefer you  to start your business using this platforms instead of finding any job because these platforms are proved to provide a good business only.
